Chris and I absolutely love dogs. We both grew up with lots of dogs and can't ever imagine not having one. Abby LOVES dogs too. Any and every kind of dog. When Chris was a kid he had English Mastiffs. For those of you that don't know, mastiffs are probably the largest dog breed. A full-grown mastiff can have a 36" collar and weigh about 250 lbs. Seriously. But they are the kindest and most gentlest breed of dogs too. They are very loving, cuddly, and protective and they are incredible with children. We have always talked about one day getting one when Abby is a little older.
There is an adorable boutique in Southlake outside of Central Market called Three Dog Bakery. It's a bakery/boutique for dogs and it's a fantastic store. The owners are so sweet and they have 5 mastiffs! AND, they are all at the store! It was so cool. They let us come behind the counter and play with the dogs. We wanted to see if Abby would be scared of them and how she would react. She loved them of course. They had 3 adult mastiffs and 2 puppies. When they told me they had puppies I thought of cute little puppies- oh no, the puppies weighed over 100 lbs! It was fun and we got some good pictures. We stayed and talked to the owners for a long time. All of their mastiffs are rescue dogs and were adopted. They meet with other mastiffs once a month at a dog park for "playdates" and they said we could come along. Abby enjoyed the dogs but I had the hardest time dragging Chris out of the store! :)
Those are the "puppies" in the background- they're black/brown. Check out these huge paws! He thought Abby wanted to play. Obviously Abby wasn't bothered by his enormous size.
